Jani Rose: Friday's guest poet at Beyond Breast Cancer
Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 02:56AM I was honored on Friday, Sept. 11th, by a kind woman named Michelle who keeps a blog called Beyond Breast Cancer. When I wrote the poem "Today is Mine!" the power and beauty in it was evident because every spoken reading of it brought tears to my eyes and tightened my throat. When I shared it onstage many were sure that it was true because the honesty with which it was delivered was unmistakable. It is true, but it isn't my experience, I have simply been blessed to be the instrument through which the story vibrated and hummed. Seemingly from another place the voice of this woman, who was struggling through the process of learning her status, battling and overcoming breast cancer, spoke through me.
She prefaced her posting of the poem as such:
"Today’s poem was written for Poetry in Pink Breast Cancer fundraiser by Jani Rosado. On her website Musings and Scribbles, Jani states so eloquently that she writes ”to connect, to understand and to speak to the part of you that lives in me, to search for the part of me that lives in you.” How beautiful! Her words really resonate with me and I thrilled to share her poetry with you here today." ~Marie @ Beyond Breast Cancer http://beyondbreastcancer.wordpress.com/
Imagine how excited I was to have found that my poem lives in her and she has given me the opportunity to share with others who have lived the tale and are finding inspiration in it now?
Thank you, Marie.
Blessings, light & love.
~Jani Rose
