We will be reading Lolita's poetry and celebrating her life in film & song. I am grateful to have been afforded this opportunity by cultural leader, actor & producer, Sery Colon.
Please share this, join us and bring the people/children in your life whom would appreciate such an evening. This is a wonderful opportunity for them to learn of our history and take part in the strength, passion and pride for our beloved island and people.

Hundreds of Latino Leaders & Dignitaries to Attend Commemoration of Historic Political Figure
Lolita Lebron
Saturday, November 20th 7pm
Hunter College-West Building, Lecture Hall/7th Floor
68th Street Lexington Avenue, New York, NY
Hundreds of Latino leaders and dignitaries will attend the commemoration that pays tribute to one of Puerto Rico’s and Latin America’s most revered, almost mystical, political female figures, Lolita Lebron, whose life of resistance as a freedom fighter inspired millions. She died August 1st of this year at the age of 90. This event will commemorate “Lolita's”, as she was endearingly called, life as a woman, a political prisoner and examine her guiding principal: “My life I give for the freedom of my country" (1951). Lolita is considered the mother of Puerto Rico’s independence movement. Her legendary ideals and actions undoubtedly guarantee her an outstanding place in history.
Lolita was born November 19th, 1919. Despite her struggles and that of others for the island’s self-determination, Puerto Rico continues to be the oldest colony in the world under United States control. Our aim is to educate, especially the youth, about Lolita Lebron’s role in the quest for Puerto Rico’s self-rule.
